BOISE, Idaho – Winning $100,000 came at the most opportune moment for Kenneth Baker of Jerome when he claimed the first top prize on the Idaho Lottery Scratch GameTMBreak the Bank.
“I’m flying high now!” exclaimed Baker. “Now, I can really retire.”
Baker, who has lived in Jerome since 1999, was working for a local dairy but retired earlier in the year. Well, almost retired. Despite announcing his retirement, Baker continued working since no one yet had learned how to do his job. That changed when he purchased a $10 Idaho Lottery Break the Bank Scratch ticket and won $100,000 on Wednesday night.
“I bought the ticket at the Stinker store on the west end of town, scratched it, and couldn’t believe it,” he described. “I had the store check it and they told me I’d have to go to Boise because they couldn’t pay it!
Baker plans to retire his debts with his winnings. He has no plans to return to work.
The winning ticket was sold at the Stinker Store location at 700 W. Main in Jerome. For their part in selling the winning ticket, Stinker Stores receives a bonus of $10,000 from the Idaho Lottery.
